- A heightened desire to engage in the arts.
- Better overall health and wellness/well-being through movement and creative expression.
- Develop awareness and appreciation for jazz music.
Please describe in detail what the community grant funds will be specifically used for.
The Community Grant funds will be used toward direct project expenses related to the
Community Concert. Personnel Costs include: Band Director's Fees for directorial duties,
payment to up to ten alternate musicians if students are unavailable or sick, professional
fees for mentorship/clinic workshops with professional musicians, rental/permit fees for the
performance space, and supplies costs related to music charts.
Describe how this project is cost effective and whether the budget is reasonable for the
anticipated result. If this project does not receive funding, what will be the effect on this
project?
LVA’s expertise highlights cost consciousness and effectiveness with school and public
outreach programs. Marketing and administration costs have been reduced by using LVA’s
staff and in-house print production.
With project support LVA can continue to fund East Bay Jazz and expand with more
performance and educational opportunities for the students. Grant funds will help offset the
costs of sheet music, rehearsal space, directorial/managerial duties, promotional materials,
and web presence. Furthermore, the grant funds can allow LVA to hire well-respected
musicians as guest artists to mentor the students. A personal connection with a “master”
professional and a hometown audience can be an inspiring and unforgettable experience.
If your agency received funding from the City of Pleasanton in the past five years, please
include project name, funding level and the year funding was received (enter N/A if not
applicable).
Pleasanton FY 2012/2013 $500 Community Grant Program - Livermore Amador Symphony
concerts at Pleasanton library on 5/5/2013
Pleasanton FY 2014/15 $7,500 Community Grant Program - Civic Arts for Arts in the
Schools program with Cheza Nami
Pleasanton FY 2014/15 $3,850 Community Grant Program – Youth for Arts in the Schools
program with Cheza Nami
Pleasanton FY 2015/16 $5,326 Community Grant Program - Civic Arts for Arts in the
Schools program with Cheza Nami
Pleasanton FY 2015/16 $3,978 Community Grant Program – Youth for Arts in the Schools
program with Cheza Nami
Pleasanton FY 2016/17 $2,000 Community Grant Program - Youth for Arts in the Schools
program with Cheza Nami
Pleasanton FY 2016/17 $5,413 Community Grant Program - Civic Arts for Arts in the
Schools program with Cheza Nami
Pleasanton FY 2016/17 $395.09 Community Grant Program - Youth for Arts in the Schools
program with Livermore Amador Symphony
