Powered by ZoomGrants™ <br />City of Pleasanton <br />FY 2024/2025 Community Grant Program - Civic Arts <br />Pacific Chamber Orchestra <br />Pacific Chamber School Day Orchestra Matinee Concert <br />Requested Amount <br />$ 7,500.00 <br />Official Amount <br />$ 4,000.00 <br />Provide a brief summary of the project for which your agency is seeking funding for (no <br />more than 3 sentences; this text will be used widely during the review and implementation <br />process to describe your project.) <br />The Pacific Chamber Orchestra will present a free orchestra concert for Pleasanton <br />elementary and middle school students as a one-hour morning field trip matinee held at <br />Pleasanton Middle School. Matinee concerts are a perfect way to introduce students to the <br />joys of the hearing a full orchestra perform. Teachers receive educational materials and <br />activities to help students further enhance their experience and understanding. <br />Describe the following:a. The problem(s), need(s), issue(s) or service gaps to support the <br />need for this project in Pleasanton. b. How your project relates to the problem, need, issue <br />or service gap. c. How this relates to the Cultural Plan. <br />Pleasanton School elementary students have little opportunity to benefit from attending a <br />live classical full-orchestra concert. Pacific Chamber Orchestra thus uniquely provides for <br />Pleasanton elementary school students to come together and share a profound musical <br />experience. Students are inspired when they see that they are so valued that the greatest <br />and most beautiful music is brought to them live by outstanding professionals. The program <br />is educational and gives the students extra joy to be in school and to do well. This free <br />matinee concert closely aligns with Goal 4 of the City of Pleasanton’s Cultural Plan, which <br />calls for Pleasanton to: "Evolve the public art program to . . . enhance its artistic reach and <br />scope."
