I'm Dhanush, a current senior at Amador Valley High School.
I've been using the library's facilities for 2 years, and I am here to
oppose the closing of the library for 2 days of the week and reducing
library collections by 50%. The library has been the place I know I
can rely on any day of the week if I need a place to focus, and I know
many students who feel the same. Because of the library's
accessibility, I was able to spend whole weekends preparing for big
tests or finals at the library, which allowed me to focus better than I
would at home, helping me perform significantly better on tests. The
library is also the perfect place for big projects, staying open until 9
PM. During busy times with tests coming up, I used these late hours
to the fullest. With the proposed cuts, even more hours that I and
many students and adults take advantage of would be gone. Without
them, many others and I would lose crucial time that high school
students rely on. Also, the staff and resources at the library have
been a huge help. I've used the printer many times for school
assignments, and I've asked staff for help with completing countless
assignments. Without all of the print and digital resources, and the
staff who help people use them, the library would not be what it is
now. I urge you to stand with residents and protect the Pleasanton
Library by maintaining its current hours of operation and collections.
Thank you.
