I am writing to express my strong opposition to closing the
library 2 days a week and reducing library collections by 50%.
As the most used City facility in Pleasanton, the library is an
essential resource for many people, including myself. It was
instrumental in helping me find resources for securing my
healthcare coverage. I also leaned on the library when I became my
mother's caregiver and needed resources and information. I have
made much needed friends via the book clubs and I took advantage
of the study rooms when taking online classes. And of course I
always have a library book close at hand.
Reducing library access means limiting opportunities for students,
job seekers, families, workers, and community members who
depend on its resources. I urge you to stand with residents and
protect the Pleasanton Library by maintaining its current hours of
operation and collections.
Sincerely, Regina Vlbeger
