SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIAL
2. Library & Recreation (Pg 11/40):
a. #4- Did we consider adjusting hours, work schedules, to achieve some savings -
such as 4, 10 -hour days for employees and staggering it with some lesser hour
reductions (say open later a Wednesday, or close 30 minutes earlier?)
Answer:
We considered many scenarios. The five-day per week, single shift schedule
generated the highest cost -savings.
b. #4 -What are the most popular days at the library, what days would be closed
under this proposal?
Answer:
The library uses a gate counter called SenSource to count traffic in the library by day
of the week and time of day. Below is a heatmap showing the average use between
7/1/2024 and 1/22/2025. Dark green is the lowest use (primarily closed hours) and
red is the highest use.
O O O O O 0 0 0 0 O O 9 4 197 174 lab 15a 2 O O O 0 0 0
O O O O 0 O O 0 O E -Em-
69 ■ 127 100 82 68 31 0 0
=01
0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 00-0- d9 69 ■ 106 102 72 O 0
0 0 0 0 0 0 Almmimm§■ - 72 ■ 71 - ■0 106 98 7i 31
O O O O 0 0 MEMO -- as 75 71 E ffi 93 M - 0000
■■■■■■■■■■ 89 r 68 78 76 M 104 ------
0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 = 114 124 Ib 123 129 130 110 2 0 0 0 0 0 0
Based upon this usage data, staff would recommend a Tuesday -Saturday or
Sunday -Thursday schedule. Tuesday -Thursday hours 11 am -7 pm and
Friday/Saturday or Sunday/Monday hours 10 am - 6 pm. These schedules
attempt to balance morning, evening, and weekend availability.
3
