TV30 seems setup to do programs that are communicating with the
community, including our Council meetings (and we're not doing
zoom meetings). Who would be broadcasting then?
Answer:
While TV30 has historically played a role in broadcasting our City Council meetings
and producing community content, there are other options available.
The City currently streams public meetings through CivicClerk, which serves as the
City's primaryvideo repository for City Council and commission meetings. The City
also maintains a YouTube channel and a Vimeo platform, both of which can be
utilized to host and share video content, with on -demand access that can be easily
embedded into our website. There is also potential to enhance community
engagement by simulcasting meetings and community updates to Facebook,
allowing for both live streaming and on -demand viewing. The City would continue to
send the video broadcast of all City Council meetings—or any other meetings—to
TV30 for inclusion in their programming schedule.
Staff has researched other cities and found that many have modernized their video
production setups, moving away from traditional TV broadcast equipment in favor of
more flexible and cost-efficient systems that support multiple video distribution
methods. These upgraded systems are easier to operate and do not require staff
with specialized TV broadcasting skills, making them more sustainable and scalable
for municipal use.
