City of Pleasanton—Villages at the Quarry Project
Consistency Checklist 15183 Consistency Checklist

80
Prairie Falcon
There are two CNDDB occurrences of prairie falcon (Falco mexicanus) within
5 miles of the project site. The exact locations of these occurrences (#485
and #487) are obscured in the database, but they are both located in a 60-
square-mile area that lies between 3.25 and 13.15 miles southeast of the
project site. The species is presumed extant in the area of these occurrences.
Although the project site does not contain suitable cliffs for nesting, the
adjacent grassland to the north could provide foraging habitat for this
species, and individuals could be found dispersing onto the project site.
Approval of the proposed project would be conditioned upon compliance
with recommendations provided in the project-specific BRA (MM BIO-1). This
includes avoidance and minimization measures for special-status species, as
well as for migratory and nesting birds, including prairie falcon. With
adherence to project-specific recommendations, impacts to this species
would be less than significant.
American Peregrine Falcon
There are three CNDDB occurrences of American peregrine falcon (Falco
peregrinus anatum) within 5 miles of the project site. The exact locations of
these occurrences (#2, #36, and #43) are obscured in the database, but
they are located in a 60-square-mile area that lies between 3.25 and 13.15
miles southeast of the project site. The species is presumed extant in the area
of these occurrences.
Although the project site does not contain suitable cliffs or ledges for nesting,
individuals foraging near the lakes to the north and east may disperse onto
the project site, and the project site’s cranes and other human-made
structures provide perching habitat. Approval of the proposed project would
be conditioned upon compliance with recommendations provided in the
project-specific BRA (MM BIO-1). This includes avoidance and minimization
measures for special-status species, as well as for migratory and nesting birds,
including American peregrine falcon. With adherence to project-specific
recommendations, impacts to this species would be less than significant.
Loggerhead Shrike
Although there are no CNDDB occurrences of loggerhead shrike (Lanius
ludovicianus) within 5 miles of the project site, suitable habitat is present
within the grassland to the north of the project site, and individuals utilizing
this area may disperse onto the project site to forage. The project site does
