City of Pleasanton—Villages at the Quarry Project
Consistency Checklist 15183 Consistency Checklist

112
a) Earthquakes
Would the project: Directly or indirectly cause potential substantial adverse effects,
including the risk of loss, injury or death involving: (i) Rupture of a
known earthquake fault, as delineated on the most recent Alquist-
Priolo Earthquake Fault Zoning Map issued by the State Geologist
for the area or based on other substantial evidence of a known
fault; (ii) Strong Seismic Ground Shaking; (iii) Seismic-related ground
failure, including liquefaction; or (iv) Landslides.
i) Surface Fault Rupture
Summary of Housing Element Update FEIR
The Housing Element Update FEIR indicated that the Calaveras Fault and its
associated Alquist-Priolo Earthquake Fault Zone (EFZ) intersect the city limits
along its western boundary. Various sites are within 1 mile of the Pleasanton
and Verona Faults and their respective Alquist-Priolo Earthquake Zones. Refer
to Housing Element Update FEIR Exhibit 3.6-2.
The Housing Element Update FEIR concluded that compliance with California
Building Standards Code (CBC), applicable Municipal Code requirements, as
well as goals, policies, and programs included as part of the General Plan
would minimize structural damage and minimize the exposure of people to
risk of injury or death from structural failure in the event of surface rupture
during an earthquake and ensure that impacts would be less than significant.
Proposed Project Analysis and Conclusion
A Preliminary Geotechnical Report (Geotechnical Report) was prepared for
the proposed project by ENGEO Incorporated (ENGEO) on June 19, 2024
(Appendix E). Additionally, a Geotechnical Peer Review was prepared by
BSK Associates on July 12, 2024 (Appendix E).
According to the Geotechnical Report, there are no known faults that
transect the project site, and the project site is not within an established EFZ.7
The nearest EFZs to the project site are the Verona Fault Zone (2.5 miles
southwest of the project site), Pleasanton Fault Zone (2.6 miles northwest of
the project site), and the Northern Calaveras Section of the Calaveras Fault
Zone (approximately 3.2 miles southwest of the project site).8 As with all
development in the City, the proposed project would comply with the CBC

7 ENGEO Incorporated (ENGEO). 2024.
