39 <br />The above education incentive pay is not cumulative. Employees receive the level of <br />compensation that corresponds to their highest level of educational achievement. <br /> <br />21.2 City of Pleasanton Fire Department Employees (Grandfathered Plan) <br /> <br />Former members of the City of Pleasanton Fire Department shall continue receiving the <br />grandfathered educational incentive pay described below or the education incentive pay <br />provided in Section 22.1 above, whichever is greater. <br /> <br />Employees having enrolled in the educational incentive pay plan on or before July 1, 1988, shall <br />upon completion of five (5) years of service with the City of Pleasanton Fire Department, receive <br />educational incentive pay as provided below: <br /> <br />Educational Level Eligible Positions Pay % <br />A.A. or A.S. in Fire Science <br /> <br />Firefighter <br />Fire Engineer <br /> <br />2½% <br /> <br />Sixty (60) accredited semester units of which <br />24 units must be in Fire Science <br /> <br />Firefighter <br />Fire Engineer <br /> <br />2½% <br /> <br /> <br />Ninety (90) accredited quarter units of which <br />thirty-six (36) must be in the field of Fire <br />Science <br />Firefighter <br />Fire Engineer <br /> <br /> <br />2½% <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />B.S. or B.A. Degrees Firefighter <br />Fire Engineer <br />Fire Captain <br />5% <br />5% <br />2½% <br /> <br /> <br />One Hundred Eighty (180) quarter hour units <br />to include: <br />- a minimum of 90 upper division quarter <br />hour units; and <br />- a minimum of 72 quarter hour units in a <br />major field of study of which a minimum <br />of 36-quarter hour units must be upper <br />division courses <br /> <br />Firefighter <br />Fire Engineer <br />Fire Captain <br /> <br /> <br />5% <br />5% <br />2½% <br />One Hundred Twenty (120) semester hour <br />units to include: <br />- a minimum of 60 upper division <br />semester hour units; and <br />- a minimum of 48 semester hour units in <br />a major field of study of which a <br />minimum of 24 semester hour units <br />must be upper division courses <br />Firefighter <br />Fire Engineer <br />Fire Captain <br /> <br />5% <br /> <br /> <br />5% <br /> <br />2½% <br /> <br />Page 233 of 674
