SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIAL
10. Why isn't the meter size shown on the utility bill?
A. This is a good suggestion that supports the City's goals for customer transparency
and education. Staff will include this item for consideration in the next utility bill
format update.
Customers can currently reference their fixed rate shown on their water bill with the
Pleasanton Water Rate Schedule, available online at
https://www.citvofpleasantonca.gov/assets/our-government/public-works/utility-
billing/rate-notification-inserts-water-2025.pdf
Attached is a reference image of the current bill layout.
Com0uu4 a-MOMMy
rued Meter Chxtes
Meter Size
528"
3/4'
1'
1 112'
2'
3'
4'
6'
8'
10"
CurronrCon""Cost
$21.90
$31A3
$56.27
$117.28
$165.37
$431.4
$756.97
111.387.52
53.330.4
$6.246.23
Combined Total
1124.01
531.30
$60.06
$127.01
$168.21
5466.94
5817.14
$1.445A8
53.608.50
55.862.70
EMctMO2f/2025
[lose"" elffirnm
S5.S3
$6.59
$9.25
$16.14
520.30
$51.16
$87.23
$151.95
$374.78
5506.90
zone 7
518.48
1 $27.71
550.81
1 $110.87
1 5147.82
1 $415.78
1 5729.91
I 51.293.52
1 53.233.81
1 55.081.71
n t
Alternatively, customers may contact Public Works Customer Services for
assistance:
• Phone: (925) 931-5500
• Online: Contact Us form on the City website
• Office Hours: Monday -Friday, 7:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
11. What happens if we don't get the assumptions right? (page 28 of the rate study, Table
212)
A. Assumptions are used throughout the study as a means to reasonably project future
expenses using the best available data at the time the study was completed.
However, projected costs of future expenses may be different from the actual costs
of those expenses.
If projections are higher than actual expenses (with all else equal), the City has the
ability to implement lower rates than what was presented in the Proposition 218
notice and adopted at the Public Hearing, which represent the maximum water rates
that the City can implement.
If the projections are lower than the actual expenses, the City can use its reserves to
offset the increase in costs. The City's reserve policy includes a target for an
operating reserve, which allows the City to pay for unexpected increases to
operating expenses and reduce the financial risk associated with those fluctuations.
L!
