W Las Positas Blvd Multimodal Project – Amendment 03
City of Pleasanton

7 OF 8
• Engineered Fill
• Lime Treatment of subbase
• Soil stabilization using polyurethane or sand cement slurry (Currently under evaluation by City geotechnical engineer)
95% Construction Quantities and Cost Estimates
Mark Thomas will update the construction quantity estimate submitted during 95% PS&E and submit updated quantity calculations incorporating all agreed upon design revisions as discussed above.
The revised 95% PS&E will be provided to the City for review and comment.
Task 6.2.3. Landscape Design Revised 95% PS&E
Mark Thomas will incorporate design revisions to bioretention planting and irrigation to address City comments and
impacts from grading and drainage requirements. The net impact to the current design plans will require an enhanced
soil matrix strategy to keep trees out of bioretention storm "storage" volume calculation. This request requires tree
rooting volume calculations and adjustment/separation of soil matrix, in addition to coordination of grading and
drainage requirements to ensure tree rooting success. Revisions include separately irrigating bioretention plantings
from trees and groundcovers in the immediate vicinity due to varied soil and water requirements (hydrozone).
Additionally, revisions have been requested to the planting palette based on a meeting held on 8/5/25 with Matt
Gruber and James Paxton (Hacienda). These revisions will require adjustments to MWELO calculations and changes to
irrigation hydrozones. Mr. Paxton also requested soil amendments added to native backfill areas which was not
anticipated as part of the current design strategy. Estimated fee includes soil fertility testing for areas of native backfill
and landscape specification revisions.
The revised 95% PS&E will be provided to the City for review and comment.
Task 6.2.4. Signals, Lighting and Electrical Design Revised 95% PS&E
Through the value engineering process several changes were identified including changes to drainage, utilities, bike
facility alignment, and geometrics. These changes will require the traffic signal modification plans to be redesigned to
accommodate the value engineering changes. In addition, we understand that a bid alternative will be prepared with
the base 95% plans, to provide the City the flexibility during the contractor bidding process. The extent of the changes
will depend on the revised geometrics but may include shifting pole locations, maintaining existing equipment,
adjusting pull box locations, and potentially adjusting conduits. Cost estimates and specifications will be updated as
appropriate to reflect the new design and a separate estimate will be prepared for the bid alternative. To assist with
cost estimating the City will provide additional background regarding loop detector costs which will be incorporated
into the cost estimates.
DELIVERABLES
 List of Potential Value Engineering Measures and Cost Estimates
 Revised 95% PS&E
 All deliverables to be submitted electronically in pdf format only unless noted otherwise
Docusign Envelope ID: A75419B6-AB44-4A86-AD28-9A8B761DAC45Docusign Envelope ID: 1E59C678-E9C3-4670-9E32-812A6336279F
