SHC Tri-Valley East Wing Hospital Addition
Design Review Application – Project Narrative
TAYLOR DESIGN – 6370.101

8

SITE CONSTRAINTS
The area of the proposed east wing hospital addition is bordered to the south by the existing two-story hospital
building with mechanical penthouse, existing emergency department and existing arcade structure. To the east
is an existing vehicular turnaround and patient drop-off area for the Emergency Department and the 5575
medical office building. To the north are a generator enclosure and temporary trailers. To the northwest are the
existing Central Utility Plant (CUP), loading dock and support spaces, and helipad.
An existing ambulance parking area and canopy are currently within the footprint of the east wing hospital
addition. A temporary ambulance drop-off area will need to be established prior to the start of construction of
the new addition. The existing onsite road that connects Santa Rita Road and Andrews Drive will also need to be
reconfigured around the new addition.
Due to proximity to the CUP and generator yard, several existing underground utilities exist within the footprint
of the new addition that will need to be relocated (Figure 2).

Figure 2 – Existing Underground utilities near and within the expansion footprint
