EVALUATION OF GROUNDWATER SUPPLY ALTERNATIVES WITHIN BERNAL SUBBASIN
APRIL 2026 / FINAL / CAROLLO
CITY OF PLEASANTON 10
Hopyard Road with a small segment, approximately 1,050 lf, in Hansen Dr. The pipe alignment is subject
to change following utility investigations recommended to be conducted during final design.
The existing Hopyard Chloramination Facility includes equipment and infrastructure for chlorine and
ammonia injection in the existing 24-inch Hopyard Chloramination Facility well discharge pipeline. To
accommodate additional flow from Tennis Park and Hansen Park wells, the existing chloramination
infrastructure will need to be expanded (Figure 6).
As advised by Zone 7, the existing ammonia storage/feed building will be replaced with a new
chloramination facility with an approximate footprint of 30 feet wide by 50 feet long. Note the footprint of
the new chloramination building is subject to change in final design and the building is currently designed
to be a single room. The new chloramination building will house the following equipment to inject both
sodium hypochlorite and ammonia into water being discharged into Zone 7’s water transmission system:
 Sodium hypochlorite dosing pumps.
 Ammonia dosing pumps.
 2,000 gallon ammonia storage tank.
 6,000 gallon sodium hypochlorite storage tank.
 Sodium hypochlorite supply pump.

Figure 6 Zone 7 Chloramination Facility Improvements
Table 4 summarizes the total project cost estimate for the joint groundwater supply improvements. Note
that based on preliminary negotiations of terms with Zone 7, the City anticipates its cost share for capital
costs to be 36 percent.
