Testing, Sampling, and Analysis Plan
January 15, 2025
7
Zone 7 Water Agency and
City of Pleasanton
4. EQUIPMENT, CALIBRATION, AND DECONTAMINATION
4.1. Equipment
Field personnel shall be adequately equipped to perform field activities described herein. The following
list is not a comprehensive list of all instrumentation, equipment, gear, and consumables that may be
needed to complete the field activities. The list merely states key items that are specific to this project
1.Electrical sounder with 0.01-foot graduation to support direct readings with a resolution of 0.01 foot.
2.Multi-parameter water quality meter or individual sensors for measurement of specific conductance
(SP), temperature, (T), pH, oxygen reduction potential (ORP), and dissolved oxygen (DO).
3.Turbidity meter
4.Consumables such as powder-free nitrile gloves and single-use in-ůŝŶĞĨŝůƚĞƌƐ;Ϭ͘ϰϱʅŵͿ͘
5.Decontamination supplies including Alconox® (or other phosphate-free detergent) and deionized water.
All instrumentation is to have manufacturers’ specifications for accuracy and precision reflective of
standards commonly used in environmental groundwater monitoring applications comparable to the
Zone 7 sites. Instrumentation is to be kept clean and to be stored and handled appropriately.
4.2. Calibration
Shop and field calibration of instrumentation shall be conducted following the manufacturer’s instructions
and guidelines using appropriate standard solutions (primary and secondary, as appropriate) and
procedures and at manufacturer-recommended intervals. Documentation of calibration activities shall
recorded on specified forms (Section 6). The electrical sounder and thermometer are factory-calibrated
and do not require calibration by the user. The ORP sensor shall be cleaned and conditioned according to
the manufacturer’s instructions.
4.3. Decontamination
Prior to the first use at the Zone 7 sites, the portion of the electrical sounder that will be entering the wells
shall be washed with an Alconox® (or a comparable phosphate-free detergent) solution and thoroughly
rinsed with deionized water. The portion of the electrical sounder that enters the well is not to contact
the ground or otherwise be subjected to potential contamination. Between wells, the portion of the
electrical sounder that entered the well is to be thoroughly rinsed with deionized water.
The portions of water quality meters and individual sensors that come into contact with purged water
shall be thoroughly rinsed with deionized water between wells.
5. PROCEDURES AND SAMPLE COLLECTION
Upon arrival at each test well site, the well identification shall be checked against project information
(e.g., location map, description, or photographs). The well structure shall inspected for evidence of
damage, tampering, and vandalism.
