Testing, Sampling, and Analysis Plan
January 15, 2025
9
Zone 7 Water Agency and
City of Pleasanton
7. Filled sample containers shall be immediately placed on ice in an ice chest and kept at a temperature
not exceeding 6°C until received by the laboratory.
8. Samples shall be shipped to the laboratory within the specified sample hold time.
9. Sample containers shall be marked with laboratory-supplied labels and recorded on associated chain-
of-custody documentation.
10. Order of Sample Collection: Sample containers shall be filled based on decreasing volatility of the
constituents to be quantified (e.g., Semi-volatile organic compounds [SVOCs], metals, and general
minerals).
6. LOGISTICS AND DOCUMENTATION
1. The calibration of instrumentation shall be documented by field personnel on form sheets provided
to them or on form sheets approved by project management. A sample Calibration Record Sheet is
provided in Attachment 3.
2. Depth-to-water readings shall be recorded by field personnel on form sheets provided to them or on
form sheets approved by project management. A sample Field Data Sheet is provided in Attachment
3.
3. During purging, activities shall be recorded by field personnel on form sheets provided to them or on
form sheets approved by project management. A sample Purge Record Sheet is provided in
Attachment 3.
4. The analytical laboratory shall be provided with chain of custody (COC) forms, sample containers,
container labels, duplicates, and blanks.
5. The COC forms shall specify each test well, identify associated containers, preservatives, and other
pertinent information.
6. The COC shall be filled out completely at the time that the samples are collected. All samples are to
be accompanied at all times by the COC. Field personnel are responsible for the care and custody of
the samples until they are relinquished. The individual relinquishing the samples and the individual
receiving the samples will sign, date, and note the time on the COC. The individual receiving the
samples shall verify that the information on the labels matches the information on the COC and that
all samples are accounted for.
7. Samples shall only be collected in containers provided by the analytical laboratory. Field personnel
shall completely fill out and affix the appropriate labels on individual sample containers. Each
container shall be uniquely identified and cross-referenced on the COC by field personnel.
7. METHODS AND TIMELINES
7.1. Methods
Depth specific water samples from individual screen intervals will be analyzed for selected analytes
summarized in Attachment 1, which also includes units, laboratory analytical methods, and method
detection and reporting limits.
