These closure events will require Police Department overtime hours for street closures and
event staffing relating to 22 special events (21 with fiscal impact) this year, an anticipated
increase by seven (7) events from 2025. City staff will need regular and overtime hours to
prepare for, set up, and remove barriers, cones, and barricades for the special events noted in
this report. The number of Police and Public Works staff hours will be determined based on the
event logistics and details of each individual event. Direct City support, minus approved
discounts, will be recovered on an actual cost basis for most special events; pre-event
estimates are provided to event organizers. Staff will recommend appropriate budget
amendments based on actual revenues and costs incurred for these special events as part of
the FY 2026/27 Mid-Year budget update process.

Prepared by: Submitted by: Approved by:

Michele Crose, Assistant
Director of
Library/Recreation
Heidi Murphy, Director of Library and
Recreation

Gerry Beaudin, City
Manager

Attachments:
1.
