I am particularly
encouraged that this plan relies on a data-driven approach to identify safety projects and incorporate
community stakeholder input.
Specifically, I am highly supportive of the speed limit reduction review program that will be initiated under
this newly adopted plan. In recent conversations with the Traffic Engineering Division regarding Hopyard
Road, we discussed how localized speed reductions can improve safety metrics and remove hidden
barriers to alternative transportation.
Adopting the TSAP will give our Traffic Engineering staff the necessary mandate and resources to evaluate
these speed zoning segments citywide. I urge the Council to adopt the resolution so we can begin
implementing these critical, data-driven improvements.
Thank you for your time, service, and dedication to keeping Pleasanton's roadways safe and accessible for
everyone.
Sincerely,
Derek Ortiz
Pleasanton Resident
