Four contract change orders were issued during construction, resulting in a net cost increase
of $101,309, or 9.7 percent above the original contract amount. All work has been completed
and is ready for final acceptance by the City Council. Acceptance of the public improvements
will marginally increase the City’s inventory of infrastructure requiring long-term maintenance,
however, the improvements correct an existing system deficiency and reduce the City's overall
maintenance burden.

CALIFORNIA ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY ACT (CEQA)
The project was determined to be categorically exempt from CEQA, as documented in a
Notice of Exemption filed pursuant to Section 15302, “Replacement or Reconstruction”.

EQUITY AND SUSTAINABILITY
Not applicable, as this item is a routine matter of City business.

OUTREACH
City staff conducted neighborhood outreach meetings with residents to explain construction-
related project impacts. In addition, the contractor distributed notices to residents immediately
before work began.

STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT
Approval of this action advances the citywide ONE Pleasanton Strategic Plan goals of
Safeguarding Our City, Strategy 4 - Identify funding sources and implement the hazard
mitigation plan to address response to natural disasters, and Investing in Our Environment,
Strategy 1 - Implement the Four-Year Capital Improvement Program (CIP).

FISCAL IMPACT
Total funding for this project was $1,827,201. Total expenditures were $1,268,819, leaving a
remaining balance of $558,382, as shown in Attachment 2. Staff recommends returning the
remaining balance to the Annual Storm Drain Repair/Replacement Fund (Fund 441) for future
eligible projects through the CIP prioritization process.

Prepared by: Submitted by: Approved by:

Michael Stella, City
Engineer
Siew-Chin Yeong, Director of Public
Works

Joe Calabrigo, Interim
City Manager

Attachments:
1. Project Location Map
2. Financial Expenditure Summary
