330 Land Company, LLC Arroyo Lago
9785.004.001 Design-Level Geotechnical Report

Page | 22 April 16, 2024
Latest Revision October 31, 2025
b. 4 inches of clean crushed rock to act as a capillary break. Crushed rock should have
100 percent passing the ¾-inch sieve and less than 5 percent passing the No. 4 sieve. If
a PT mat is used, this capillary break may be omitted.
2. Concrete should have a concrete water-cement ratio of no more than 0.50.
3. Inspection and testing should be performed during concrete placement to check that the
proper concrete and water-cement ratio are used.
4. The slab should be moist cured for a minimum of 3 days or use of other equivalent curing
specified by the structural engineer should be implemented.

The structural engineer should be consulted as to the use of a layer of clean sand or pea gravel
(less than 5 percent passing the U.S. Standard No. 200 Sieve) placed on top of the vapor retarder
membrane to assist in concrete curing. If sand or pea gravel is used above the vapor retarder
membrane along with a PT mat, the edge of the mat should be thickened to cut off water getting
in between the slab and the membrane. The thickened edge should be as thick as the sand or
pea gravel layer and at least 12 inches wide.

6.3 2025 CBC SEISMIC DESIGN PARAMETERS

The 2025 California Building Code (CBC) references the seismic design criteria established in
the ASCE/SEI Standard ”Minimum Design Loads and Associated Criteria for Buildings and Other
Structures,” (ASCE 7-22). Based on the site conditions encountered and shear-wave velocity
measurements, we characterize the site as Site Class D based on ASCE 7-22. We provide the
ASCE 7-22 multi-period response spectra at the Risk-Targeted, Maximum Considered
Earthquake (MCER) and Design Earthquake (DE) levels for Site Class D in Table 6.3-1. In
addition, we provide the associated seismic parameters in Table 6.3-2 below. We obtained these
response spectra and seismic design parameters from the ASCE Hazard Tool, which utilizes the
United States Geological Survey (USGS) Seismic Design Geodatabase.

TABLE 6.3-1: ASCE 7-22/2025 CBC MCER and DE Response Spectra
Latitude: 37.6786 Longitude: -121.8563
PERIOD
(seconds)
PSEUDO-SPECTRAL ACCELERATION (g)
MCER DE
0 0.8 0.53
0.01 0.81 0.54
0.02 0.81 0.54
0.03 0.82 0.54
0.05 0.91 0.61
0.075 1.13 0.75
0.1 1.31 0.88
0.15 1.56 1.04
0.2 1.72 1.15
0.25 1.87 1.25
0.3 2.02 1.35
0.4 2.11 1.41
0.5 2.05 1.36
0.75 1.74 1.16
1 1.52 1.01
