Pleasanton, and were authorized by the respective City Managers.

The extent and scope of the work required to be completed to meet the Water Boards
requirements has now been expanded to additional locations. As a result, staff is requesting
that the City Council approve a Second Amendment to the Contract to increase the not to
exceed amount by an additional $600,000 to complete the remaining work on the
investigations.

Because this contract involves expenditures by both the City of Pleasanton and the City of
Livermore, both City Councils are required to approve it.

EQUITY AND SUSTAINABILITY
Not applicable, as this item is a routine matter of City business.

OUTREACH
No outreach was conducted, as this item is a routine matter of City business.

STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT
This item aligns with ONE Pleasanton strategic plan goal C. Investing in Our Environment, to
address PFAS water quality issues.

FISCAL IMPACT
Under the LPFD Joint Powers Agreement, both cities are jointly responsible for the costs
associated with the investigation of LPFD’s Fire Training Tower. The Cites are separately
responsible for the costs associated with investigations of the Fire Stations in their
jurisdictions. The additional $600,000 in contract costs will be apportioned among the two
cities depending upon the amount and extent of work required in each location. As such, it is
not anticipated that the City of Pleasanton will expend the full amount of additional funding
being reserved.

The City of Pleasanton’s portion of these costs will be paid using settlement proceeds it has
received through its participation in Multi-District Litigation against various manufactures of
products containing PFAS.

Submitted by: Approved by:

Aaron Lacey, Fire Chief Joe Calabrigo, Interim
City Manager

Attachments:
1.
