MILITARY EQUIPMENT USE REPORT 2024 <br /> <br />30 <br /> <br />Equipment Name: Defense Technology Exact Impact 40mm round (Arrived in early 2025) <br />Quantity Owned/Sought: Up to 500 owned Lifespan: Approximately 5 years <br />Equipment Capabilities: Can launch a sponge baton munition from 50 meters. <br />Manufactured Product Description: The eXact iMpact™ 40 mm Sponge Round is a point-of-aim, point- <br />of-impact direct-fire round. This lightweight, high-speed projectile consisting of a plastic body and <br />sponge nose that is spin stabilized via the incorporated rifling collar and the 40 mm launcher’s rifled <br />barrel. The round utilizes smokeless powder as the propellant, and, therefore, have velocities that are <br />extremely consistent. Used for Crowd Control, Patrol, and Tactical Applications. <br />Purpose/Authorized Uses: It is intended to be used as a less-than lethal option similar to a baton, bean <br />bag shotgun, etc <br />Fiscal Impacts: Munitions are to be included in the initial purchase price. <br />Annual Maintenance: Approximately $27-30 per round <br />Personnel Cost: None <br />Legal/Procedural Rules Governing Use: All use of force applications are governed by state law <br />(including Penal Code section 13652) and Pleasanton PD Policy Sections 300 and 308. <br />Training Required: Only officers who have received training from a certified instructor are authorized to <br />use this device.
