City of Pleasanton—Additional Housing Sites Rezonings Project
Addendum CEQA Guidelines Section 15164 Addendum

88
Plan (LHMP), Title 22 and 26 of the California Code of Regulations governing
hazardous materials transport, and Title 19 of the California Code of
Regulations and Chapter 6.95 of the Health and Safety Code for site
remediation.
Additionally, the potential demolition of older buildings may expose
hazardous materials such as asbestos-containing material (ACM), lead-
based paint (LBP), mercury, and polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) caulk. As
analyzed in the Prior FEIR, future demolition actions would be required to
adhere to applicable local, State, and federal regulations, such as those
listed above, in relation to handling and disposal of any hazardous
demolition materials, thereby reducing the potential for significant impacts.
Furthermore, similar to the analysis in the Prior FEIR, operation of any future
development on the proposed sites would be expected to include small
quantities of commonly used hazardous substances such as cleaning
solvents, paints, pesticides, fertilizers, oil, and gas. However, given the small
quantities and the characteristics of use (routine maintenance and
cleaning), use of such substances would not be considered a significant
hazard.
Further, the proposed project would be consistent with General Plan policies
that ensure regulation of the transportation, delivery, use, storage, and
disposal of hazardous materials. Therefore, impacts would be less than
significant.
Overall, the future development related to the proposed project would be
consistent with General Plan policies that ensure regulation of the
transportation, delivery, use, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials to
mitigate the release of hazardous materials into the environment during both
construction and operation. Therefore, impacts would be less than
significant, and the proposed project would not result in a new or more
severe adverse impact that was not previously identified and disclosed in the
Prior FEIR. No further analysis is required.
