2026 PLEASANTON BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN MASTER PLAN | 31
EXISTING CONDITIONS AND NETWORK EVALUATION
Pleasanton has an extensive network of sidewalks, bikeways, and shared-use trails that provide connections throughout the com-
munity. However, major arterial roadways, high traffic speeds, and challenging crossings continue to create barriers to comfortable
and convenient walking and bicycling. This chapter documents existing conditions, evaluates the performance of the existing active
transportation network, and identifies the safety, comfort, and connectivity needs that form the basis for the recommendations pre-
sented in Chapter 4.
Examples of Network Barriers:
A. Wide Crossing B. High Speed Arterials C.Freeway Crossings D. Network Gaps
A.
B.
C.D.
