VALENCIA RESIDENTS
PETITION TO REJECT LARGE F AMIL Y DA YCARE
AT ADDRESS: 5276 GENOVESIO DRIVE

April 26, 2005

In Re: 5276 Genovesio Drive-Daycare proposal

Dear Valencia Neighbors:

As many of you know, the residents of 5276 Genovesio Drive have submitted a proposal
to Pleasanton to operate a "large family daycare." If approved, this daycare is allowed to
have up to 14 children in its care.

There are many reasons why you as a homeowner should object to the approval of this
daycare. Below is a summary ofthe possible consequences if this daycare is allowed to
operate in this neighborhood. This daycare will affect your family's safety and overall
quality of life.

Please read the summary below. If you agree that the daycare should be denied to
operate based on what is stated below, please sign the petition at the end of this letter.

I. Location of Home- 5276 Genovesio is located immediately on the right after
a blind right turn from Appian to Genovesio. This blind turn poses a great
danger to anyone on the street, ie cars, bicycles, and pedestrians. When you
add parents who are rushing to pick up their children so they don't incur an
expensive late fee or become late for work, this blind turn becomes even more
dangerous. These streets are narrow and when vehicles are parked on either
side of this blind turn, the risks become even greater.

2. Exits/Entrance-Since this house is located at near the corner of Appian and
Genovesio, the most efficient way to exit is to make a 3-point turn. The
combination of a blind turn, cars making 3-point turns and narrow streets are
three elements that enhance the potential for traffic accidents. With up to 28
drop-offs/pick-ups during the day, each parent must maneuver themselves
through a blind turn, drop-off/pick-up their child, and make a 3-point turn in a
narrow street. Cars parked in the street make this exercise even more
difficult. These 3-point turns may also cause traffic congestion from either
direction, while cars wait for them to cornplete their turn. This also blocks the
driveway and exit/entrance for many residents.

3. . Emergency Red Curbs-There is a red curb approximately 10 feet in length
right before the residence. There should never be a car parked in this area
unless it is an emergency vehicle (police/fire/ambulance). The red curb is
there for everyone's safety should an emergency arise in the neighborhood.
The red curb also poses a danger of an increased blind spot should someone
