Fence on west.
3' on north and east sides. Fence on west.
7' on north, south and east sides.
6' on north, south and east sides
7' on north, south and east sides.
25' on all sides.
4' on north, south and west sides.
15' west, 15' northwest and 25' on south sides.

3. The following specific recommendations will be implemented to reduce impacts to trees.
a. Trees #25-27, 32-36 and 38-meander bioswale around trees to the east as far as
possible. Bioswale will not be deeper than 12" below existing grade.
b. Fence posts within 4' of trees shall be dug by hand to minimize damage to tree
roots. If roots 2" in diameter or less are encountered they may be cut clean and
square at undamaged tissues. If roots larger then 2' in diameter are encountered
adjust post location to avoid damaging the root and leave it in place, unless directed
to cut it by the Consulting Arborist.
c. Valley oaks #21 and 57-landscaping and irrigation should be kept a minimum of
10' away from oaks. Eliminate the redwood, one each, shown within the dripline of
the oaks. The first 10' from the trunk should not be irrigated. The best treatment
under oaks is 4-6" -deep layer of wood chip mulch. If irrigation lines must be located
within the dripline locate them as far away from the trees as possible near the back
of curb. Irrigation lines within the dripline shall be dug by hand. If roots greater than
2" are found leave the root in place across the trench and thread the pipe below the
roots.
d. Trees #24-27, 32-36 and 38- locate irrigation lines within the dripline at the back of
curb or planter wall. Irrigation lines within the dripline shall be dug by hand. If roots
greater than 2" are found ieave the root in place across the trench and thread the
pipe below the roots.

4. Tree Preservation Guidelines, prepared by the Consulting Arborist, should be included
on all plans impacting trees (eg. demolition, grading, utilities and landscaping).

5. All trees-do not lime soil within 50' of trees. lime is toxic to tree roots.

6. Any herbicides placed under paving materials must be safe for use around trees and
labeled for that use.

Pre-construction treatments and recommendations
1. The construction superintendent shall meet with the Consulting Arborist before
beginning work to discuss work procedures and tree protection.

2. Fence all trees to be retained to completely enclose the TREE PROTECTION ZONE prior to
demolition, grubbing or grading. Fences shall be 4 ft. orange construction fence or
equivalent as approved by the City. Fences are to remain until all grading and
construction is completed. We suggest placing weather proof signs on the fencing that
read "TREE PROTECTION ZONE KEEP OUT".
