Said payments shall be made in arrears monthly.
Should the monthly premium of the Union's long term disability plan drop below fifteen dollars per month,
the dollar difference shall be added one time to the rate of pay set forth in Section 5.1 of this agreement.

16.7 Extended Benefits

The City will consider voluntary proposals from the Union's membership to utilize their benefits to extend
the benefits of an individual on protracted medical leave.

16.8 Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance for
Represented Fire Prevention Personnel

The original City of Pleasanton Fire Inspectors, who were represented by PCEA, are represented by
IAFF Local 1974 as of 8/1/96. Correspondingly, the PECA Life Insurance benefit of $35,000 was
reduced to the Local 1974 benefit of $25,000 life insurance and $25,000 accidental death and
dismemberment benefit. Some of this reduction was offset by an increase in LTD benefits that local
1974 members received.

16.9 Employee Assistance Program

The parties have agreed to be covered by, and have LPFD provide an Employee Assistance Program.
Section 17. Retirement

17.1 Retirement Plan

The Department shall continue to provide the PERS 2% at 50 retirement plan to include the present 1959
Survivors and One Year Highest compensation options at the Department's expense. The Department
contracts with PERS for the Fourth Level 1959 PERS Survivors Benefit.

The negotiating teams have conditionally agreed to the implementation of a merged PERS retirement
plan, to be effectuated on or about August 15, 1998 as stated in the most recent actuarial survey the
cities have received from PERS. The current Pleasanton employees being credited an employee
contribution rate of 10.75% will be grandfathered at such rate. All current Livermore employees and
new hires will be credited with a 9% employee rate.

21
