Chapter 4
Environmental Setting, Impacts, and Mitigation Measures
P. Utilities and Service Systems

(2) Impacts on Solid Waste Generation and Management

As noted above, the capacity of the landfill serving Pleasanton is sufficient to serve the needs
of the City for approximately 10 years. By that time, the available capacity is expected to be
expanded. Compliance with requirements that recycling be implemented at all special
events or venues that host over 300 people would mitigate solid waste impacts of larger
gatherings at the proposed cultural arts center, the sports fields, and the amphitheater.
Given the available capacity of the landfill and Pleasanton's implementation of recycling in
conjunction with major events on the Bernal Property, no impact on solid waste is found.

As an option, the City could implement recycling for all uses and activities at the Bernal
Community Park, including vegetative waste from landscape maintenance and agricultural
cultivation activities.

d. Mitigation Measures

No significant effects related to utilities and public services have been identified; therefore,
no mitigations are needed.

159
