Existing Roadway Network <br /> <br /> <br />Regional vehicular access to the site is provided primarily by the interstate freeway system <br />that serves this area. Interstate 680 (1-680) is a north-south facility that bisects the project <br />site. Interstate 580 (1-580) is an east-west facility located 2 miles north of the site that <br />contains an interchange with 1-680. Access to and from 1-680 to the site is provided by <br />freeway ramps at Bernal Avenue and Sunol Boulevard/Castlewood Drive. The following is a <br />description of roadways that will provide access to and within the project site. <br /> <br />Interstate 680 (1-680) is a six-lane, divided, grade-separated freeway carrying about 263,000 <br />average daily vehicles along the section from Sunol Boulevard to Bernal Avenue (2004 <br />Caltrans). The posted speed limit along this section of 1-680 is 65 miles per hour. 1-680 <br />provides regional access to San Jose and Sacramento and connects to the interstate freeway <br />system for national roadway access. <br /> <br />Bernal Avenue is an east-west, arterial roadway in the project site area that provides access <br />to the Alameda County Fairgrounds and downtown Pleasanton. On-street parking is not <br />permitted on Bernal in the project area from Case Avenue to Foothill Road. From Case <br />Avenue to Valley Avenue, Bernal is a four-lane roadway with a posted speed limit of 35 to 45 <br />miles per hour. From Valley Avenue to 1-680 northbound ramps, Bernal increases to a six- <br /> <br />F8 <br />
