2. COMMENT SUMMARIES AND RESPONSES

A. PLEASANTQNPLANNING COMMISSIONMEETING
COMMENTS BY COMMISSIONERS AND PUBLIC, FEB. 22, 2006

A 1 Comment:
Commissioner Blank asked whether the soccer fields would be lit.

Response:
Field lighting is proposed for all three soccer fields, the football/lacrosse field, and at
least three of the four baseball fields. The fourth baseball field is the "informal field"
which is to be "stubbed" with electrical lines sufficient for adding potential future
lighting, subject to prior approval by the City Council.

A 2 Comment:
Commissioner Blank asked whether there would be room where spectators could sit.

Response:
The soccer stadium is planned to be constructed with concrete seating facing to the
east within a sloping landform area. The other soccer fields, baseball stadium,
formal baseball fields, and football/lacrosse field are to be provided with aluminum
bleachers. Approximate seating for the various sports fields is anticipated as follows:

Soccer stadium 1,000 seats Baseball stadium 680 seats

Regular soccer fields 200 seats Formal baseball fields 200-220 seats

Football/lacrosse field 200 seats Informal baseball field no seating

A 3 Comment:
Commissioner Fox asked for clarification regarding the difference between a
"stadium" and a "field," and whether a stadium implied permanent, elevated seating.

Response:
See Response 2.

A 4 Comment:
Commissioner Roberts noted that a raised bicycle area would be placed around the
roundabouts for safety.

Response:
The primary way in which the roundabouts are planned to improve safety for bicy-
clists is by slowing motor vehicle speeds in general along the roadway through the
park. This generally reduces the severity of injuries resulting from collisions. The
roundabouts will also help to discourage some through traffic from using the park
roadway, thus reducing traffic volumes on the street and vehicle/bicycle conflicts.

An additional feature that is being added to the park roundabouts is a ramp and
raised bike area that bicyclists may use instead of riding on the pavement with cars in

5
