By going to three turn lanes they are only
encouraging more traffic and we don't need more capacity on these roads.
We need to discourage traffic and I don't care if this results in a
bottleneck around these intersections. The noise levels around Valley
are already beyond acceptable levels and the amount of traffic is way
beyond what the roads were built for. Adding more capacity will only
make the roads more dangerous for my child and other children that cross
Valley, Santa Rita, and Stoneridge.

You say you don't want to extend Stoneridge to El Charo even when
Stoneridge was designed for this as a reliever of Santa Rita and all
roads southwest of Stoneridge. This doesn't seem like a good "plan" to
me. You are limiting your options and I think Stoneridge should be left
as a part of the plan. When the development of Home Depot
comes in, where do you plan to put that traffic?? How is Valley and
Stanley going to accommodate that load?

This is what I'd like to see. Expedite El Charo to Jack London to
Stanley. When that's in, please reexamine the traffic mix and see if
Stoneridge is necessary, see if three left turn lanes are required and
make the necessary adjustments.

I DO NOT think it is fair for you, in planning, to dump all the traffic
from the east (Livermore) onto Valley and Santa Rita. It is making
things very dangerous for our children and any other pedestrian that
must cross Valley or Santa Rita or Stoneridge.

Hank Jones
925-872-6224 - Cell

-----Original Message-----
From: Hank Jones
Sent: Wednesday, July 12, 2006 8:21 AM
To: Hank Jones; jstern@ci.pleasanton.ca.us
Subject: RE: General Plan Circulation Network

My other concern is that the city would rather encourage all this
traffic into the middle of the city instead of finding alternate routes
that would decrease traffic flowing to Valley and down Santa Rita to
Valley. This would endanger children going to school. Many pedistrans
have already been hit crossing Santa Rita as well as on Valley. We need
relief on these two streets. One previously planned relief route was
Stoneridge to El Charo but you are now forcing THEIR traffic onto areas
that were never built to accomidate this amount of traffic. This is
unfair in light of all the planned development to the southeast. We

1
