Page I ofl

Marion Pavan

From: Russell Hatch [russellhatch@msn.com]
Sent: Friday, March 24, 2006 10:14 AM
To: Marion Pavan
SUbject: PUD-50, Ponderosa Homes

Dear Mr. Pavan,

It appears at this time that I will not be able to attend the 3-29-06 meeting. I do want to express the following
views for consideration however:

1. I am in favor of a path or walkway along Cameron that would be pleasing to existing neighbors, especially
those near Martin avenue as they/us will be most heavily impacted and therefore it would be nice to give
them the highest consideration in what type of path they would find acceptable. My concern for the
walkway is that as traffic increases above what it already is due to the new development, the possibility of
an accident between a pedestrian and vehicle becomes even more likely.
2. I would like to see traffic calming measures taken along Cameron, including the speed tables that were
mentioned before.
3. I would like to see the curb adjacent to my property at 2017 Palmer Dr. toed in towards the center of the
lane to act as an additional traffic calming measure and to aid in providing an additional span of sight for
pedestrians/drivers coming down Cameron towards Kamp. Right now drivers do not have much time to
see cars or pedestrians coming south on Palmer towards Cameron and parents have to use extreme
caution with their children as folks tend to drive too fast along Cameron, especially at the intersection of
Palmer and Cameron which has the blind side I mentioned earlier as the road dips down so vehicles tend
to pick up even more speed. Also, the Cameron/Palmer intersection has become a favorite place for one
or more motorists to do "donuts" during the summer months late at night, screeching his tires.
4. I would like to see a no parking sign on Cameron next to my home. Right now, service vehicles and
others park there in large numbers as there is no parking along Cameron due to the other no parking
signs there and commercial vehicles and others who would have to visit folks on Cameron, park next to
my home instead. This little parking area adjacent to my home is already a nuisance as people parking
there discard trash, drink there late at night, use it for romantic interludes at night, as a natural stopping
place to hold neighborhood chats in the evening or repair vehicles. People have even used this spot to
sleep overnight after having drunken to much to drive home, because they could not park in front of the
homes off Cameron they came from. I even once found a young man defecating there in the middle of the
day.
5. I would be opposed to a stop sign at Cameron/Palmer as it would create stop and go noise and I do not
believe it would be effective as motorists would just do a California stop as they have a short way to go
before another stop at Kamp. This would be an even greater problem for pedestrians who might rely too
much on the stop sign and neglect to observe if motorists actually do stop.

If there are any questions I can be reached at 925-426-8279.

rhank you,

'l.ussell Hatch

24/2006
