Marion Pavan

From:
Sent:
To:
Cc:
Subject:

Jake Ktakauer [evergreen3202@yahoo.com]
Friday, April 14, 2006 12:24 PM
Marion Pavan
kevok2@yahoo.com
Lehman-Selway Development

Marion -

My son Kevin wanted to send you the following note.
His email is kevok2@yahoo.com.

Mr. Pavan,

As a resident of nearby Palmer Drive I would like
to voice my concerns over the Lehman-Selway
Development sidewalk plans for Cameron Drive. Some
residents have complained that there is a need for a
sidewalk on Cameron for the safe travel to and from
Mohr school for students who walk or bike. I would
like to add my concern to this issue, but from a
different point of view. I am now fifteen years of
age, but I attended Mohr from the year it opened
(1997) until 2000. I would like to give you some info
not from the adults' and parents' point of view, but
from the students.

I do know that the close neighbors to the property
are opposed to having a sidewalk, but I also know that:
without a sidewalk the students and drivers would have
to be much more careful, which is something that
doesn't always happen when rushing to school in the
morning and from school in the afternoon. I remember
that when kids were riding on one side of the street,
the cars would drive into the other lane to prevent a
collision. However, with the new development, more
cars will be travelling in both directions, making it
impossible to maneuver around walkers and bikers.
Also, there will be sidestreets on both sides of
Cameron, so the children wouldn't be able to cross to
the other side of the street to avoid the turnoffs.

After walking to Cameron and thinking about how
the roads would be l~yed out, it became very obvious
to me that Cameron will not be safe for children to
travel on. We must remember that Cameron is one of, if
not the main routes to Mohr, and with the new
development going in it will be a much wiser choice to
install a sidwalk. Sure, it may look nicer without
one, but it won't be as nice when elementary school
children start getting hit by cars.

Thanks,

Kevin Krakauer
1969 Palmer Drive

1
