August 11, 2006

Page 1 of I

Marion Pavan

From: r1ranch1@comcastnet
Sent: Friday, August 11,20069:33 AM
To: Marion Pavan
Subject: PUD-58 & GPA-11 Austin Property

August 11, 2006

PUD.58 & GPA-11 Austin Property

Attention: Marion Pavan, Assoc, Planner

Since the general meeting has been changed from
Aug.9th to Aug, 23m. we will be unable to attend.

We are pleased with the proposed development plans that were submitted for the City Council -Planning Commission General
Plan Joint Workshop on March 1, 2006 for the Austin Family Property at 3459 Old Foothill Road, If there have been any changes
since that meeting would you please advise us of such changes. We think clustering 8 homes and leaving the remaining land in
permanent open space is a good use for this property,

Should the development move forward and the undeveloped land is donated to the City of Pleasanton there are a few concerns
we have. We understand the local 4-H group has an interest in using that part of the property (approx, 22 acres) which at present
time and for the last 50 year the Taken's Family have had cattle grazing free range. If you review the 4-H usage for project
animals they are under a very controlled environment and pens and sheltered areas would need to be built to contain them, We
do not like the idea of pens being built to contain such animals. This would be very unsightly: We realize 4-H is a good learning
experience for children to raise animals, but we feel this is not the proper location to house these animals. We would support a
free range grazing.

We do not support any type of picnic area, hiking trails or any type of staging area or parking lots on any of the property, We
realize that the open space could be combined with the Alviso Adobe Park, The Alviso Adobe Park project was approved several
years ago but funding has delayed the building of this park, The park was approved with limited usage and we hope that won't
change with the acquisition of the open space should the Austin Family donate it to the City. There is also a concern of how the
open space will be maintained to alleviate potential fire hazard,

We feel that all of our concerns listed above would lessen the value of our home and our property. Our family (Messa) have lived
here for 26 years and the Curdy Family (Joyce's family) have owned this parcel and many more acres since the 1870's. Please
take our concerns into consideration when addressing the open space usage, We would be happy to meet with you in the near
future to discuss our concerns,

Thank you for your consideration in this matter.

Larry and Joyce Messa
3464 Old Foothill Road
Pleasanton, Ca. 94588
925-846-5258

9/22/2006
