4.5 Entry Concept
The entry to Austin Place should feel as though one were entering an old farm road, as this
development shares the entry road with neighboring Alviso Adobe Park. The area celebrates the
farming period of Pleasanton. The entry will be bordered on each side by the Type A 3'split rail
wooden fence as shown in the photo simulation below. A double row of California Walnut trees
will be planted behind the fence to recall the history of the walnut orchards that once lined Old
Foothill Road. A large entry sign and entry feature is not allowed.

4.6 Lighting at Austin Place
Light standards are located adjacent to Austin Place. Lights are 20-feet high with metal hallide
light source with direct illumination and non-glare features. Street lighting should be spaced to
meet City of Pleasanton illumination standards.

4.7 Retaining Walls
Natural looking curvilinear retaining walls constructed of rustic looking stacked concrete blocks
will be constructed in select locations along Austin Place. The Maximum height of the retaining
walls will be 4', stepping down if higher walls are required. Geotechnical considerations will take
precedence

Top left: Street Light Standard:
Louis Poulsen HW Patina, Metal
Hal/ide, 150W.
Top right: Retaining wall: Celtik
Walls blocks by Mutual Materials,
www.mutua/materials.com.
Bottom: photo simulation of
entry to Austin Way showing
wooden fence and walnut trees.

.~

-

J

.-

]

,/ _/

....-..
