Page I of I

Natalie Amos

From:
Sent: Tuesday, February 21, 2006 10:22 AM

To: Natalie Amos

Subject: 779 Mirador Court

Hello Natalie,
Did you have a chance to find out about the Gloria Court home remodel that was denied by city planners,
aparently because it obstructed neighboring views?
Also, the applicants at 779 Mirador Court did put up three poles in their backyard yesterday to demonstrate the
elevation. But I'm unsure if the two lower poles approximate the level of the windows and also, was there
supposed to be one more pole at the extreme western end of the yard toward Tim Bennet's home to show the
extent of the remodel's width?
Incidentally, just based on the one elevation pole, their remodel wouldn't merely obstruct our view. It would
destroy it. And if, as I fear ,the shorter pole is supposed to show where the windows would be, they would be well
above our fence line with a direct line of sight into the kitchen, family room, and two of the three bedrooms in our
home. If you recall, the architect, Mr. Shuilt, had stated during our meeting that the windows would not have a line
of site into our backyard and residence. He stated that the windows would look into our fence.
I also have been reading zoning review guidelines on the city's website. Under the scope of the review, it
specifically states that planners' review should include "preservation of views enjoyed by residents." There also is
a proviso citing "relationship of exterior lighting to its surroundings" because the second story addition would also
affect the lighting coming into our home.
It is troubling to me to see these clauses in the city's zoning section and to know that the neither the applicants
nor the archiect at any time ever bothered to consider the impact on neighboring homes. As I believe I told you
before, there was never a word of consultation from these applicants and the architect prior to the city's
notification that this remodel plan was in the works.
Sincerely,
Dennis and Barbara Georgatos

6/9/2006
