',"ii~t.``; i' --';';c `~~ 3F_ !~iv~I_ FiriHT
May 4, 2007
Nick Kavayiotidis
Petra Realty Investors, Inc.
39201 State Street
Fremont, CA 94538
Re: Tree Appraisals for 5980 / 5988 Sunol Blvd, Pleasanton
Dear Nick,
ATTACHMENT 5
Per the City Planner's request, the following are the appraised values of all the trees being
removed on your project, along with tree's #5, and #6 that are now proposed to be saved
due to a realignment of the parking lot.
Appraisal Format
The following appraisal was arrived at using the Trunk Formula Method as outlined in the
9"' Edition of the Guide for Plant Appraisal written by the Council OF Tree & Landscape
Appraisers, and the Species Classification and Group Assignment Guide written by the
Western Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture. This method is used for
larger trees that can not be readily replaced by equal sized specimens.
Four primary factors help determine the value of landscape trees: Species, Condition,
Size, and Location. These factors are essential considerations when appraising the value
of a tree using the "Trunk Formula Method". This method is used when trees are too large
to be equally replaced by planting a new specimen from a nursery.
Species Rating
The species ratings are based on their typical performance for a given geographical
location as determined by the Species Classification and Group Assignment Guide.
Condition Rating
Based on the trees current health and structure. Several of the trees on this site
were in decline and given a low or even a 0% rating.
Location Rating
The location rating is based on an average of three values, the Site Rating which is
based on the market value of the particular location compared to other properties in
the area. Contribution Rating which is based on the functional and aesthetic
contributions the tree provides to the site, and Placement Rating which is based on ~M,a
;.,,;~,~ how the tree is placed on the property to add to its potential contribution.
~-~ _
C"~ ~J' f _ ~ f f
~,~i-1-may - ., ~( ~'i i~.il `l ;~~ l~l.-,. it~_ ,. ... 1,.11 I,~'!!s~ ~+7`~~
tic __ "~,r ~~ J''F (~1<' :i ~!
