with staff that could self-select. The Tri-Valley Business Council and the Chamber
would ha;'e no problem in selecting a representative.

Mr. Roush suggested a member from the Cultural Arts Council.

Council agreed. Ms. Ayala suggested reducing some of the double
representatives.

Mayor Tarver said one from the PDA and one from the Arts.

Ms. Acosta suggested a fairgrounds representative. That was agreed.

Mayor Tarver said with the Cultural Arts and Fairgrounds representative, that
makes 27 members.

Ms. Dennis suggested a representative from an environmental group.

There was discussion about whether Alameda County would want to participate.

A suggestion was made to add a representative from East Bay Regional Park
District.

Mayor Tarver indicated Jocelyn Combs had expressed a desire to participate even
though she is no longer on the Board.

Ms. Dennis believed the Sierra Club was the only local environmental group and
repeated her suggestion of including a golf course operator or someone from the golf
course committee.

Mayor Tarver reiterated his desire to have goups that could select their own
representatives so it is not necessary to advertise or hold interviews. He was uncertain
how to represent a golf course interest.

Ms. Ayala asked what categories had two representatives?

Mayor Tarver said 2 School Board, 2 Council, 2 Chamber, 2 Business Council, 2
churches and 2 cemeteries.

Ms. Dennis said there are a variety of people interested in representing the
churches.

Ms. Ayala felt one representative was enough from the Tri-Valley Business
Council. The committee is getting too large.

Mayor Tarver agreed that if it is too big, it would be very hard to do any business.

Pleasanton City Council 23 11/09/99
Minutes
