Ms. Dennis felt it was a committee to brainstorm uses and not make final
decisions. They would present possibilities. She did not think it would be a problem
having more than one representative from a group. This committee is only meeting a few
times.

Ms. Michelotti reiterated there are five Council appointments and she wanted to
cover a variety of geographic areas in the city as well.

Ms. Ayala asked what neighborhoods were considered?

Ms. Dennis said Laguna Oaks, Case Avenue, Civic Square and Valley Trails,
because of flood control issues.

Mr. Swift pointed that throughout this entire process there have only been
comments from Laguna Oaks.

Ms. Michelotti felt them would be more interest from people who look down on
this property from Golden Eagle.

Ms. Ayala felt if there was adequate notice of the meetings, all the people from
these neighborhoods could attend the meetings. She believed the Committee should be of
a reasonable size.

Mayor Tarver suggested having one from each category and that would bring it
back to about 25. The groups are East Bay Regional Park District, Sierra Club,
neighborhood groups, golf, School Board, Council, Chamber, Business Council, sports
groups, childcare, PDA, Zone 7, Castlewood, ACE Advisory Board, Fair, County,
church, cemeteries, at large and nonprofits. That is a long list, but it covers every one.
Mayor Tarver felt one from each group was adequate and they would select their own
representatives. He wanted to get organized quickly. Mayor Tarver would be the
Council representative with Ms. Ayala as an alternate. After further discussion it was
decided to have one representative from each group and two neighborhoods, Valley
Trails and Laguna Oaks. Council appointments could be used to represent another
neighborhood if desired.

It was moved by Ms. Ayala, seconded by Mayor Tarver, to set up the
committee as discussed.
The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers Ayala, Dennis, Michelotti, and Mayor Tarver
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilmember Pico
ABSTAIN: None

Mayor Tarver explained what he thought should be the scope of the Committee.
Staff would negotiate the price and financing potentials. The Committee would look at

Pleasanton City Council 24 11/09/99
Minutes
