It was moved by Ms. Michelotti, seconded by Ms. Dennis, to adopt Resolution No.
01-116, vesting the 202,000 square foot expansion for the Stoneridge Regional Shopping
Center for the term of the Development Agreement.

The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers - Ayala, Campbell, Dennis, Michelotti, and Mayor Pico
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

Item 6b
Approval of Land Disposition Agreement with Bridge Housing Corporation for the
planned 100-unit assisted living facility, at Sunol Boulevard and Junipero Drive.
(SR 01:251)

Steven Bocian presented the staff report.

Carol Gallante, President of Bridge Housing Corporation, indicated she was excited to be
at this point. It is a major step in moving forward with the application for Housing and Urban
Development (HUD) financing. That will lead to the rest of the documents being approved and
groundbreaking as soon as possible.

Ms. Michelotti indicated that once this application proceeds through the Planning
Commission and further Council approvals, then Lytton Gardens will serve as the operator of the
project.

Ms. Gallante agreed. A 501(c)(3) non-profit partnership will be formed between Bridge
Housing and Lytton Gardens. Bridge will take the lead through the development period and
Lytton Gardens is a very experienced operator of facilities like this.

Mr. Campbell asked for a definition of assisted living.

Ms. Gallante indicated regulations regarding assisted living have changed over the years,
but basically it is a facility where seniors live in units with small kitchen facilities. In addition
there are meals, housekeeping services and some basic medical assistance. In the proposed
development, there are a certain number of units set aside for Alzheimer patients. That enables
them to stay in a semi-residential setting, with added protection and security so they don't
wander off.

Mr. Campbell asked how this differed from Pleasanton Gardens and similar facilities?

Mr. Bocian said those are for independent living. This development is for seniors that
require assistance with their daily life functions. They can also assist with coordinating
medicines, whereas an independent living facility would not do that.

Pleasanton City Council 8 11/06/01
Minutes
