The Water Master Plan estimated the City's future water
demands in the year 2010 at 23.7 mgd average day demand and
47.4 mgd maximum day demand. The Water Master Plan concluded
that Zone 7 has adequate water supplies to meet these
anticipated needs. The findings of the Water Master Plan were
slightly modified by the 1987 future water demand and supply
study completed by Zone 7 staff as previously discussed under
the section entitled "Water Supply." The Zone 7 staff study
concluded that estimated water supplies of Zone 7 will be
adequate to meet estimated future demand to the year 2006.

The Water Master Plan recommended the staged ccnstruction
of anticipated facility needs of the enterprise over the period
1987 to 1998. Future facility needs include:

(1) Construction of the Sycamore Reservoir and
Tassajara Reservoir in 1987 and 1988 to increase water
storage capacity by 16 MG.

(2) Construction of the Terminal Reservoir and Bernal
Reservoir in 1994 and 1998, respectively to provide an
additional 10 MG of water storage capacity.

(3) Installation of new piping and booster pumping
facilities as land development and street improvements
occur to provide for the orderly expansion of the
enterprise and maintenance of adequate flow and
pressure in the Lower and Bonde pressure zones.

(4) Installation of a fifth turnout from Zone 7's
cross-valley water pipeline, fluoridation equipment a~
turnouts No. 3 and No. 4, and back-up power for the
three City-owned wells.

The estimated cost of facilities recommended in the Water
Master Plan, based on mid-summer 1985 construction cost
indices, totaled $18.2 million, exclusive of land acquisition
costs.

20
