c. Disconnection of the intersection controllers in the event of
computer shutdown allowing them to operate full actuated after
a variable time prior (during which local intersections
continue to operate interconnected on the basis of the last
coordination information transmitted by the master).
(2) Error Detection. The operating system shall continually monitor
ata transmitted from each local intersection and shall
automatically record the type of error detected and the time of day
for any of the following nal functions and/or interruptions:
a. If any intersection in the system goes on flash for any reason;
reason for going on flash shall be recorded.
b. Loss of communication with the local intersection.
c. Failure of a local intersection to respond to master commands.
d. Local intersection tuning is in conflict with that called for
in the master.
e. Computer power is removed and subsequently returned.
f. An intersection is preempted.
g. An intersection goes into conflict.
h. An intersection returns to the on-line mode from any of the
conditions above.
i. Failure of a detector. Detector failure shall be determined as
follows: All sample detector input shall be compared to a set
of anticipated rates from the time and day of the week and to
the total lack of detector activity or a locked detector. When
a detector error is detected its input shall be ignored and
this a~:tion shall be logged. If the detector returns to normal
operation, it shall b!e placed back in service and this factor
shat l al so~~be 1 ogged.
(3) Volume Data Collection. Detector monitoring routines shall be
capa e o o tarn ng raffic data from any intersection and/o r
surveillance vehicle detectors in the system. In addition to
detector failure, monitoring, spot volume monitoring and 24 hour
volume monitoring routines shall be provided as follows: _
a. Spot Yolume Monitoring -- Up to 12 selectable detectors shall
be monitored continuously for a programmable time increment. `
The number of actuations registered for each detector shall be
logged and printed out automatically at the end of the time
increment.
b. Twenty-Four (24) Hour Volume Monitoring -- Any one set of 3
sets, of 12 selectable detectors each, shall be monitored for a
-12-
