Project No. 9929.G Geotechnical Investigation/Vineyard Avenue, Pleasanton 8 August 2003
GEOTECHNICAL INVESTIGATION
Purpose and Scope
The purpose of the investigation for the proposed residential development located at 1630
Vineyard Avenue, in Pleasanton, California, was to determine the surface and subsurface soil
conditions and evaluate the geologic and seismic features on the subject site. Based on the
results of the investigation, criteria were established for the grading of the site, the design of
foundations for the proposed residences, retaining wall design, tentative pavement sections, and
the construction of other related facilities on the property.
As authorized by you, our investigation services as presented in our proposal of 9 June 2003,
revised 10 June 2003, were limited to the following:
a) Site reconnaissance by the Soil Engineer;
b) Review of published and unpublished geologic data pertinent to the site;
c) Stereoscopic examination of vertical-angle aerial photographs;
d) Mapping the surface geology of the site;
e) Drilling and sampling of the subsurface soils at 7 locations to depths ranging from 15
to 50 feet;
f) Laboratory testing of selected soil samples;
g) Analysis of the data and formulation of conclusions and recommendations; and
h) Preparation of this written report.
It was originally planned to drill a boring on the upper estate lot to 50 feet depth, however, access
to the proposed lot was not possible with currently available drill rigs due to the steep terrain.
This area could be drilled and investigated at a later time, when a specialty limited access drill rig
becomes available or when an access road is provided.
Details of our field and laboratory field investigation are presented in Appendices A and B.
TERRASEARCH, inG Page 5 of 53
