currently operated at a maximum of 16 hours per week in order to qualify for State's licensing
exemption status.
Pleasanton Community Church has partnered with United Youth Enrichment School. It
proposes to modify the existing use permit for the after-school daycare program to include an
after-school tutoring program that emphasizes Chinese cultural program. Staff believes that this
is a significant modification to the approved use permit. Thus, a separate conditional use permit
is required.
II. SITE DESCRITION
Santa Rita Office Center occupies an approximately 4.3-acre site on the southeast comer of
Stoneridge Drive and Santa Rita Road. The office: center contains nine buildings, totaling
approximately 55,000 square feet of building area. Existing businesses within the office center
are a mix of office uses.
Pleasanton Community Church occupies two of the nine buildings. The sanctuary building is
located at 4439 Stoneridge Drive and the education building is at 4455 Stoneridge Drive at the
southernmost end of the site. Access driveways to the office center are located off Stoneridge
Drive and Rheem Drive.
The subject site is surrounded by commerciaUoffice/light industrial uses to the east and south,
and residential uses to the north and west, across fi~om Stoneridge Drive and Santa Rita Road.
III. PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The subject education building, aone-story building, is approximately 4,608 square feet in floor
area. It contains five c]assrooms, four offices, a kitchen, two bathrooms, and a work area. It has
two building entrances. One is located on the south side of the building, and the other is on the
east side of the building.
The proposed after-school tutoring program would share the classrooms with the after-school
daycare program. The tutoring program will occup}~ three of the five classrooms. Depending
upon the enrollment, the tutoring program would be operated daily or on certain days of the
week. Hours of the classes would be offered similar to that of the after-school daycare facility.
The proposed after school program would have a m~iximum daily enrollment of 25 school
children and four teaching staff. No weekends or full-time summer camp is proposed. In order to
maintain the State licensing exemption status, the tutoring program will strictly follow the 16-
hourper week rule.
Case No. PCUP-143 Planning Commission
Page - 2 -
