sides by residential neighborhoods and other urban land uses. The loss of a relatively small
amount of habitat on the site for native wildlife is not expected to affect the persistence and
presence of local species. Thus the proposed project impacts on wildlife habitat would be less-
than-significant and mitigation measures would not be warranted.
Mitigation. Mitigation measures would not be warranted.
3.3.6 Interference with the Movement of Native Wildlife
Potential Impacts. The site is generally an infill site, surrounded by developed and disturbed
azeas. To the north and east of the site, artificial water features (i.e., quarry pits that have filled
with water, some of which are managed by the local water resource agency) are known to
provide some habitat for migrating bird species. Future development of the project site would
not be expected to interfere with species that utilize these features as the site does not support a
sizable prey base, suitable tree or shrub nesting habitat, or protection from preditor species in the
form of dense vegetation. Therefore the site does not function in a significant way as a
movement corridor for native wildlife. The loss of this habitat would not interfere with the
movement of native wildlife, and thus aze considered less than significant under CEQA.
Mitigation. Mitigation measures would not be warranted.
3.3.7 Disturbance to Waters of the United States or Riparian Habitats
Potential Impacts. Waters of the U.S. and riparian habitats aze absent from the project site.
The site consists completely of upland habitat.
Mitigation. Mitigation measures would not be warranted.
3.3.8 Degradation of Water Quality in Seasonal Drainages, Stock Ponds, and
Downstream Waters
Potential Impacts. Eventual site development, including soil and slope stabilization, may
require grading that leaves the soil of constmction zones barren of vegetation and, therefore,
vulnerable to sheet, rill, or gully erosion. Eroded soil is generally carried as sediment in surface
31
55+ Biotic Evaluation Live Oak Associates, Inc.
