C.9.a Selection of a product that does not contain added formaldehyde or has been tested
for low emissions according to the California "Standard Practice for the Testing of
Volatile Organic Emissions from Various Sources Using Small Scale Environmental
Chambers" (See www.ciwmb.ca.gov /GreenBuilding /Specs /Section01350 for details)
is required.
(1 Point)
C.10.b Applies to pitched roofs only. The additional requirement for a "Class A" fire rating is
applicable anytime roofing materials are specified. The "Class A" fire rating is
achieved through the roofing material itself or through the roof assembly as a whole.
(1 Point)
C.11.a Installation of a deliberate, ventilated drainage plane at all exterior wall surfaces.
(4 Points)
C.11.b
(1 Point)
Verification: Provide documentation of either 1) 01350 compliance or 2) no added
formaldehyde in products, such as by means of a product cut -sheet or
other manufacturer literature. A rough inspection from the Building
and Safety Division to verify the insulation brand and crosscheck to the
CIWMB list.
Verification: Provide a copy of the manufacturer's warranty and subcontractor
guarantee (if shingle roofing is used).
A drainage plane allows moisture to run down walls by placing a gap or rain screen
assembly between siding and exterior sheathing. Building paper (or vapor barrier)
does not count for this measure unless it provides a definitive ventilated drainage
plane, such as with sturdy corrugated building paper that creates vertical channels
between the vapor barrier and siding, or through a true rain screen wall system that
physically isolates the siding from the vapor barrier /building paper.
Verification: Plans submitted to the Building and Safety Division shall show a
definitive drainage plane under siding. A rough inspection from the
Building Inspector, pre- siding, will be required.
All bathrooms shall have a fan that is vented to the exterior and have controls that
exhaust moist air automatically. Strategies include: a timer connected to the light
switch that runs for a pre -set time after being turned on (independent of being turned
off); a continuously running ventilation fan; or humidistat sensor that automatically
runs when moisture is present. All fans are shall be ENERGY STAR qualified.
Verification: The following are required: 1) Plans notes on any plans submitted to
the Building and Safety Division for permit issuance, 2) a final
inspection to verify that the controls are in place, and venting to
outdoors, and 3) documentation of proof of ENERGY STAR fans.
Civic Square Apartments 8 of 14 Multifamily GreenPoint Comments
4800 13crnal Avenue PUD- 84- 21 -01M
