As discussed in Section 4.16, Public Services, the 1998 HVSP FEIR determined that the proposed project could result in increased demand for parks and recreational facilities, but that impacts would be less than significant due to the semi-rural character of the Happy Valley Area, which would result in most homes having considerable private open space and private recreational opportunities, the low density of development, the relatively small scale of the project, access to the trails system, and the availability of the golf course, as well as the payment of in lieu park fees. Additionally, the 1998 HVSP FEIR determined that construction of designated trails segments would be included in the Specific Plan. The 1998 HVSP FEIR concluded that the impacts would be less than significant. The City of Pleasanton currently offers 46 community and neighborhood parks, 60+ miles of trails, and over 700 acres of undeveloped open space.39 The City currently provides about 5.1 acres of 39 City of Pleasanton. 2020.
