\I MARK TO#6—Sunol Boulevard Line F-7 Water Improvements
a a THOMAS City of Pleasanton
TASK 3. DESIGN
Mark Thomas will design the 20-inch water pipeline using the partial design/build methodology per the City's
request. A conceptual design will be prepared, followed by additional submittals that will include plans,
specifications, and an estimate of probable construction cost.
The following plan sheets are anticipated:
Plan Sheet Description Estimat-• Sheets
Title Sheet 1
Index,Abbreviations, Legend 1
General Notes/Key Map 1
Plan and Profile(scale 1"=40') 4
Construction Details 5
TOTAL: 12
Task 3.1. Conceptual Design
Mark Thomas will prepare a conceptual design for the water pipeline. This design will be schematic, showing a
plan view with dimensions to fixed objects such as the face of curb. The purpose of this design is to rapidly
identify the basic location of the pipe for review by the City and for use in the first field walk.
Existing utility information will be obtained from sources that may include the City and the various utility
companies directly. Mark Thomas will request utility data and prepare a master utility file for use in the 50%
design submittal.
A preliminary determination of pipe material will be prepared. It is assumed that the pipe material will be either:
• PVC(C900-16 specification), or
• Ductile Iron Pipe
A working meeting with City staff will follow this submittal to review the tie-in/connection work.
Task 3.2. 50% Plans and Estimate
Mark Thomas will prepare a 50%design plan set and an estimate of probable construction cost. Most plan sheets
will be included at this stage, although the design and details will generally only be 50%complete. Plan sheets
will be prepared using an aerial background image. An associated profile grid will be included stacked above the
plan layout. The profile will not include the water pipe elevation, as this will be determined during construction.
This profile grid will only contain the existing ground elevation from LIDAR data. Existing utility lines will be shown
in the plan, and also shown as a crossing location (without depth) in the profile.
A field walk meeting with City staff will follow this submittal to review the tie-in/connection work.
