City of Pleasanton—Merritt Property Project
15183 Consistency Checklist Consistency Checklist

59
of the CLRF surveys can be found in the CLRF Survey Letter Report
(Appendix C).
• Special-status Bumble Bee Survey–Because of the potential presence of
bee species on-site, Olberding Environmental conducted a protocol
bumble bee survey on September 20, 2023. Biologists traversed the
project site by walking transects spaced 20-50 feet apart looking for
nectar producing flowering plants. If a flowering plant was observed,
the Biologists surveyed the plant for 15 minutes and noted any
invertebrates present. The findings of this survey can be found within the
BRA (Appendix C).

Because of the undeveloped nature of the site, a variety of land covers and
vegetation types reside within the project site. Additionally, vegetation
present on-site has a potentially suitable habitat for special-status species. A
summary of the existing habitats present on-site are further discussed below.
Land Cover and Vegetation
The project site supports five habitat types containing developed, ephemeral
drainage, intermittent drainage, non-native annual grassland, and oak
woodland.6 The habitat type and a description of the plant species present
within the habitat type are provided below.
Developed
Developed land is characterized by permanent or semi-permanent
structures, pavement or hardscape, and landscaped areas that often
require irrigation. Developed areas are typically unvegetated or landscaped
with a variety of ornamental (usually non-native) plants. The developed
areas in the western portion of the project site include Foothill Road, two
residential homes and their surrounding landscaped area, two other
outbuildings, and the gravel driveways and roads leading to the various
structures. Besides the lawn and ornamental plantings around one of the
homes, most of these developed areas are unvegetated.
Ephemeral Drainage
There are eight ephemeral drainage features with limited flow located
throughout the project site. Three of these features are located west of
Foothill Road, while the other five are located throughout the rest of the site.

6 Olberding Environmental, Inc.
