overlaying a street with a new layer of asphalt concrete, and it is a cost-effective approach to
extend the useful life of the pavement.

Slurry seal is a petroleum-based emulsion product; it is blended on-site in a large truck and
then applied evenly across the entire roadway surface of an asphalt street. The slurry seal is
typically one-quarter to three-eighths of an inch thick. The aggregate is a mixture of fine sand
and black volcanic rock that increases the roadway friction and maintains a black surface for
several years after placement. The slurry seal process typically requires streets to be
temporally closed to traffic between 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. The slurry-sealed surface will be tender
and subject to surface blemishes, typically for a few weeks following the placement of the
slurry, depending heavily on the weather. Residents are provided information on how to reduce
surface blemishes by not making sharp turns or turning wheels while the vehicle is not moving.

DISCUSSION
The Annual Slurry Sealing of Various Streets Project, CIP No. 24504, applies slurry seal on
560,000 square feet of pavement on 27 street segments. See Attachment 1 for a map of street
locations.

STREET NAME BEGIN LOCATION END LOCATION AREA
(SF)
DUBLIN CANYON RD FOOTHILL RD LAUREL CREEK
DR
197,200
FAIROAKS CT PLEASANTON HILL RD END 9,500
STONEHURST CT PLEASANTON HILL RD END 14,400
MIDVALE CT FAIROAKS DR END 8,000
MEADOWBROOK CT FOREST HILL DR END 11,400
KENTWOOD WY MUIRWOOD DR FOREST HILL DR 24,500
LAFAYETTE CT FOREST HILL DR END 14,700
PERRY LN FOREST HILL DR END 6,000
PALMDALE CT HILLCREST WY END 15,700
HILLCREST WY MUIRWOOD DR FLAGSTONE DR 30,000
FAIRBROOK CT PLEASANT HILL RD END 14,000
FLAGSTONE DR DRYWOOD ST FOREST HILL DR 30,300
FOREST HILL DR FLAGSTONE DR 170 FT.
