City of Pleasanton
Consulting Services - AMI Feasibility Study
11 | P a g e

Deliverables/Tasks:
• Deployment strategies and detailed implementation schedule

1.2.11. Project Resources and Support – Internal and External
Approach: Workshop Topic – Diameter’s subject matter experts facilitate a workshop that plans the
internal and external project resources required to implement and maintain the AMI solution. A project’s
success depends on the assignment of the right people with the right skill sets to support the key areas
of the project. Key areas of a project include project management, contract management, CIS support,
public outreach and IT services. Resource planning includes both internal (client staff support) and
external resources and communicating what (level of FTE) responsibilities are required and when. We
will provide recommendations for
a project support organizational
chart with the roles and expected
effort required in each area,
depending on how the project will
be rolled out. This plan will be
revisited during the startup
phase, once the system has been
selected and the specific training
modules are provided by the AMI
vendor.
Deliverables/Tasks:
• Project Support Session – Workshop Topic

1.2.12. Recommendations Meeting
Approach: Workshop Topic - Diameter will host a recommendations workshop/meeting which will
provide an overview of findings and summarize recommendations. These findings will be included in the
Findings and Recommendations Summary Report.
Deliverables/Tasks:
• Recommendations meeting – Workshop Topic

1.2.13. Risk Management Strategy
Approach: Workshop Topic – Diameter provides a risk management strategy workshop to identify and
rank project risks associated maintaining the existing solution or installing another AMI solution. This
process provides a framework for prioritizing what risks may have the highest impact on the overall
success of the project (likelihood of occurrence and severity of occurrence). The risks identified as High
and Medium will have “risk owners” assigned and a mitigation strategy will be developed to be proactively
prepared in the case that the risk turns into a real issue during the project. Based on our experience, we
believe that this process promotes accountability and forward thinking to ensure negative events are not
handled in a reactionary fashion; well-planned steps are defined to mitigate the damage of the event. A
Risk Register will become the outcome of a risk management workshop (sample provided below) which
will track the identified risks and monitor any changes throughout the duration of the project (including
the design, procurement and management stages).
Docusign Envelope ID: A02F5956-6338-44A0-AD2F-17F98C437CB8
